Pleastanton Ridge is yet another East Bay cowpark. Wide trails, a big climb and a few decent views of the Pleasanton area.
Rules
This is another East Bay Regional Park, so rules are easy. Dogs must be on leash in parking areas and trailheads, but voice control is OK on the trails. No day use fees.
Trailhead
We started at the Foothill Staging area on Foothill Road just off I-680 south of Pleasanton. Watch out for the 'dangerous tree' in the parking area.
Route Notes
The park is fairly linear, running along the ridge north to south. The main trail routes all run along the ridge or parallel to it, so any route will necessarily be some combination of a climb to the ridge and then along it. We took the Oak Tree Trail up to the southern end of the ridge then followed the ridgeline north to a high point a couple of miles northward. It seems the southern end of the park has more open hilltops which should yield better views than the hills to the north. Our route gave us grand views to the south and west to Sunol Ridge.
